Nelson Info

A few basics...

The Nelson region is located at the top of New Zealand's South Island and divided into two districts; Nelson and Tasman. It is sometimes referred to as 'top of the South Island' or the 'Nelson Bays".

Nelson is one of the sunniest places in New Zealand, currently the combined population of Nelson and Tasman is around 92,000 and this figure is constantly growing. Fishing, forestry, agriculture, horticulture, and tourism are all important elements of the Nelson economy.

Well known for its diversity, beautiful beaches, excellent tramping, cycling and skiing on the doorstep, it is also the gateway to the Abel Tasman and has strong links with arts & crafts, yoga and alternative healing.
