Henley School provides a good quality primary education for students in years 1 to 6 in the Nelson suburb of Richmond. An enrolment zone is in place for this large and established school. Its physical environment is attractively maintained and presented, and it shares spacious grounds with an adjoining kindergarten, intermediate and secondary schools.

Hope School, a small semi-rural school situated south west of Nelson. It caters for students from Years 1 to 6 in four classes and many travel some distance to attend. They learn in a well appointed, spacious learning environment and have access to a range of information and communication technologies that they use well in daily classroom activities.

Maitai School offers specialised programmes for students with a variety of special needs, intellectual and/or related disabilities and Autistic Spectrum Disorders between the ages of five and twenty-one.

Nelson Central School is a state primary contributing school located in Nelson City, three blocks east of the Cathedral.
