Ortho-Bionomy

Ortho-Bionomy was developed by an Osteopath who believed that force was not necessary to change the alignment of the spine.??

Ortho-Bionomy aims to stimulate long lasting change by re-educating the body and edeavours to support the spontaneous, self-correcting capacity of the body through the use of gentle movement into a position of comfort.

By exaggerating comfort, through light compression or traction, a relaxation response is stimulated from the nervous system which enables the body to realign. This assists in easing pain and reducing muscle tension and can be an effective treatment for many conditions. (See list below).

What to expect from an Ortho-Bionomy session

The client is fully clothed during the session.

An assessment is made of the client's currrent range of motion and identification of any pain patterns in relation to movement.

The movements used in a session may be large or subtle; the focus is on finding the most comfortable position exaggerating it with compression to activate the proprioceptive nervous system.
